Leeds United are yet to open talks with Pablo Hernandez regarding a new contract, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
What’s the story?
Throughout the season, Hernandez’s future at the club has been the elephant in the room as the playmaker will come to the end of his contract this summer.
Leeds fans have made it clear on Twitter that they are desperate for him to stay, but at the moment, it seems that the club are not taking charge of the situation.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, discussions are yet to be held, which means that Hernandez, who moved to Elland Road from Al-Arabi last year, could leave the Whites at the end of the season on a free transfer.
Hernadez has been in decent form, scoring seven goals and creating eight assists in 35 outings for the Yorkshire outfit.
What do Leeds need to do?
The club are going through a difficult period on the pitch and off it, as owner Andrea Radrizzani has made a few eyebrow-raising outbursts.

At this stage of the season, the Whites are unlikely to be challenging for a playoff place as they currently sit 13th in the Championship, 11 points drift of the top six.
If the club remain in the second tier, then the fans will need a morale boost, and what better way to do that then by tying down one of their best players to a new deal.
Offering Hernandez fresh terms should be a priority, and if the club continue to drag their heels, then it may inadvertently encourage the playmaker to look elsewhere.
