Antony's footballing career seemed to be on the slide after his first two and a half seasons with Manchester United following his mammoth transfer from Ajax in 2022. However, after he left the Red Devils in January on a loan deal with Real Betis, he enjoyed a remarkable resurgence under Manuel Pellegrini as the Brazilian led Los Verdiblancos to the Europa Conference League final.

When ten Hag joined United in 2022, Antony was one of the first players to follow the Dutchman from Ajax to Old Trafford. However, the Brazilian failed to show off the same sort of form as he did in the Netherlands. Nonetheless, German outlet Kicker have reported that ten Hag, who is now set to take over from Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, wants Antony to join him at his third successive club.

The report from Kicker has also suggested that Ten Hag and Bayer Leverkusen may target a move for another United forward who is unhappy under Ruben Amorim: Garnacho.
