This January transfer window could be a very busy one.
There are a number of players who are being tipped for a move across Europe next month, and one of those is Erling Haaland. The 19-year-old has been in stunning form so far this season, scoring 28 goals in 22 matches for RB Salzburg, eight of which have come in the Champions League alone.

He has been heavily linked with a transfer, with him been followed by Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and RB Leipzig. Liverpool, too, are said to be after the Norway international, who is said to be valued at between €80m (£68m) and €100m (£85m) by his employers, but it appears that Die Rotenbullen are the team to have stolen a march on their competitors. Markus Krosche, Leipzig’s sporting director, has told Kicker (via The Daily Mail) that they have made a move for the player, and that it is now up to him whether he wants to join.

Considering the link between the two teams – over 20 players have made the switch between the Austrian club and the Bundesliga outfit since the latter’s creation in 2009 – there is a strong possibility that he could move from one Red Bull Arena to another.
Given his form, this could be seen as a blow to the Reds. However, it could be fantastic news in regards to their pursuit of Timo Werner.
The Germany international has also been linked with a move to Anfield, and he is in equally stunning form. The 23-year-old has bagged a stunning 23 goals in 24 matches, including 12 in his last seven league matches. Not only that, he has nine assists as well. With a release clause of just €30m (£25.5m) according to Kicker (via The Mirror), he would be an attractive purchase for any top European club at the start of next year.
If Haaland were to move to Leipzig, especially in January, it would surely be with a view to replacing Werner. It seems inevitable that both will move on in the near future. And the former’s arrival could clear the way for the latter to switch to the Premier League. Whilst missing out in Haaland would be disappointing, it could be a blessing disguise and, if he does make that Leipzig switch, Liverpool should be waiting to pick up the pieces and pounce for Werner.
