Manchester United will look to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat at Chelsea before the international break when they welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Juan Mata will hope to be in the United XI after being left out of the squad for the defeat at Chelsea, which did not go down too well with the club’s supporters.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been struggling for form for some weeks, but the Armenian continues to keep the number 10 position for the Red Devils, with Mata being forced wide or onto the bench.
There is no question that the Spaniard is one of the most popular players with the United fans, who have called for Jose Mourinho to select him behind Romelu Lukaku this weekend.
In fairness to Mourinho, Mata, who is valued at £27m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has only scored once and provided no assists in 12 appearances this season, but he has hardly been used in the number 10 position.
United simply cannot afford another slip up on Saturday as they chase down Manchester City at the summit, and the club’s fans will be hoping that the message gets through to Mourinho.
