UEFA has confirmed the date the 2025 Ballon d'Or will be heard as the world's top stars compete for the world player of the season award.

The ceremony will be held in Paris on September 22 after the nominees for the prizes are announced in August, UEFA confirmed on Monday.

Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele is currently considered one of the favourites to win the prize, and he could enhance his standing by guiding the French side to Champions LEague success against Inter at the end of the month. However, Barcelona's star wingers Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are also in the running, while Mohamed Salah was talked about as a candidate amid his outstanding record in the Premier League this season.

Last year's award went to Manchester City midfielder Rodri, which sparked an angry reaction from Real Madrid due to Vinicius Junior not receiving it. Ballon d'Or Feminin went to Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati.

As well as the men's and women's Ballons d'Or, prizes will be given out for the best young player, best goalkeeper, top scorer, coach and club of the year. The Socrates Award, recognising "solidarity actions or societal causes" will also be given out.
