Louis Saha is desperate to emulate Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, as the Frenchman continues to chase his first Black Cats goal.
Saha made his first start for Sunderland against MK Dons after appearing from the bench in all but one of the Wearsiders’ matches this term.
For all the qualities the 34 year old possesses he has yet to find the back of the net representing Sunderland, but the former Fulham man believes he is close to changing that.
He told the Sunderland Echo: “It was really good to get a start on Tuesday, it’s been a long time.
“I had 90 minutes for the reserves last week and its getting there. I was pleased with the win too. As a striker, you always want to win and to score. I’m getting chances which is always promising for a striker.
“The main thing is to get them and to score them. Hopefully that will happen soon. I’m not too worried.”
